Cleaning up and raku day!

This is the day of Raku. We all got to sit outside and watch them fire our pots. The two tops ones of are me and Justin and Doug. The one on the bottom is just a picture of the whole process with us in the backround. My raku piece i took home and did not get to take a picture of it. It turned out really cool though.

That is me cleaning up and helping mix clay. Justin and I were helping Mr. Chapman in there.

Shoes.

For our next assignment we have to create slab shoes. I am planning on doing a heel type of shoe based off one of these pictures shown below.

My chia pet is now in the making, waiting for the grass to grow ontop of his head. This picture is my spongebob with the seeds on his head.

This is a pinch pot i made. I melted glass in the middle to put that cool effect on it. I made the base of it by pinching little pieces of clay and then combining them. The color i painted it was cranberrry.

Now back to the chia pet. I stated earlier that i was going to be creating a spongebob chia pet. This picture was taken as i was assembling the face and body structure.

CHIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Chia Pets are a brand of collectible animal figurines originated by the San Francisco, California-based company Joseph Enterprises Inc. Chia Pets are traditional Mexican animal-shaped clay figures covered with chia, where the chia sprouts resemble the animal's fur. Chia Pets achieved widespread popularity in the 1980s following the 1982 release of a ram, the first Chia Pet. The theme song for this collectible item is "Ch-ch-ch-chia!"

More exaples;

  • Chia Ram
  • Chia Bull
  • Chia Puppy
  • Chia Kitten
  • Chia Bunny Not only do they have animals they also have disney charaters and famous people.
  • Chia Turtle
  • Chia Pig
  • Chia Frog
  • Chia Hipo
  • Chia Elephant
  • Chia Cow
  • Chia Dinasour
  • Chia Crocadile
  • Chia Bear and more
Either the heads or bodies of the chias are made with seeds, they also all hold a drip tray so when you water them the water doesn't splash all over.
We are making chias in our ceramics 2 class and i am making a sponge bob chia, currently there are no pictures uploaded of our chia's but next week there will be.

Garden art made by ME. :)

I had to ponder different garden arts i would like to create during this semester and i came accross the idea that i would like to make a imprint of my hand. The finished product looked like this.

Also on the wheel i threw a pot with a little help from my friend Justin. But mainly it was me and im so proud because its the first decent pot i have ever thrown !

Raku's.

Here are some different examples of raku kilns
Now here are some other examples of pots that are made out of raku.
